Her parents weren't allowed to immigrate to Unites States, she would have been cleaning bathrooms in hotels like many Filipinos do around the world. Early life and beginnings

Merkin was born in Santa Clara County, California,^[1] of Swedish and Russian Jewish descent^[2] as the youngest child of kvartet children. She attended boarding school in England.
