Synopsis: "Post-Hole Digger" bygd James Pope is the true story of one Iowa farm boy and how he was called upon to fulfill responsibilities for things years beyond his age. These responsibilities are taking place every day on farms across the United States, and being called upon at an early age, childhood has passed them by. All too often children living on a farm do not have the luxury of playful activities as they must shoulder the responsibility of fulfilling their family needs.
Critique: An inherently and consistently compelling read from beginning to end, "Post-Hole Digger" is as entertaining as it is thoughtful and thought-provoking. I was in New York for New York City Wine and Food Festival last week and one of my favorite events of the weekend was Justin Warner's Sunday morning wine pairing seminar with Josh Wesson. I learned a lot about wine but I also learned about why our taste buds taste what they do and what happens when certain things get together; especially opposite flavors like salty and sweet for example. Its a meaningful mantra for a woman who is moving Yo Mamas, a year-old restaurant she runs with her daughter, Crystal, into a new and larger space in downtown Birmingham.
Walking through the new 5,plus square foot space, which is a huge shift from the 1, square foot original location, Denise admits that one thing she had to overcome was the fear of growth.
You can get content in where you are and end up staying there, but not be where God wants you to be because of fear, said Denise, So, I had to overcome that part of it to say, OK, we can make this happen.
