MwanaFA started performing on scen in at school in Tanga region. Early influences -- even
at primary school age -- were his cousin brothers, China Black and Kasir, known as Quite Gangsters Chronic(QGC). MwanaFA formed the crew Black Skin with his schoolmates Robby Ras and Getherics in In , they came third in the Tanga region hip-hop competition.
He returned to Dar es Salaam in for high school studies and started to work seriously at his music career in where he released a number of hits including &#;Ingekuwa Vipi?&#; and &#;Mabinti&#;. In ,his track 'Alikufa Kwa Ngoma' -- an anti-AIDS song &#; was awarded the best hip hop song of the year at the Kili Music Awards, Dar es Salaam.

Ambwene Allen Yessayah (born 5 July ), better known by his stage name A.Y., is a Tanzanianbongo flava artist of Makonde heritage. He was born in Mtwara, Mtwara Region, Tanzania. He began his career with the group S.O.G. in He decided to go solo in A.Y. is among the first bongo flava artists to commercialize hip hop. He was member of the musical group known as East Coast Army, but now he is no longer part of the group. He is still releasing songs and albums collaborating mostly with a former East Coast Army artist Mwana Fa.[1]
A.Y is termed as the first Tanzania musician to start up business and merge music and business and inspire other artist to follow the path.
