The Darwin D. Martin House is a historic house museum in Buffalo, New York. The property's buildings were designed by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright and built between 1903 and 1905. The house is considered to be one of the most important projects from Wright's Prairie School era. It is currently a house museum.[2]
History
[edit]The Martin House was built for businessman Darwin D. Martin (1865-1935) and his wife Isabelle Reidpath Martin (1869-1945). The estate also includes the residence of Martin's sister Delta (1859-1937) and her husband George F. Barton (1847-1929).[3][4]
In 1902, Darwin Martin's older brother William E. Martin commissioned Wright to design his house in Oak Park, Illinois. Upon first meeting Wright, William Martin was so impressed that he immediately wrote to Darwin recommending Wright to design both his house and the new Larkin

Darwin Denice Martin (October 25, 1865 – månad 12, 1935) was an early 20th-century New York State businessman best known for the house he commissioned Frank Lloyd Wright to design.
Early life
[edit]Darwin Martin was born on October 25, 1865, in Bouckville, New York, an upstate New York community.[1] His siblings included Louis Franklin ("Frank") Martin, William Martin, Delta Martin (who married George F. Barton), and Maude Martin Huffer. Martin had a difficult childhood, starting with the death of his mother when he was six. Martin's family was separated, and Martin, who was the youngest of five, was forced to part ways with all his siblings except for his brother Frank.

[edit]The two Martin brothers went to New York City and Darwin obtained a job selling soap. Martin then came by himself to Buffalo to work in the Larkin Company as the first, and at that time the only, hired office-worker of the Lark
